About Institut Doriot

Institut Doriot is a France-based nonprofit dedicated to fostering international collaboration among venture capitalists and investors. Inspired by the legacy of Georges Doriot, a French immigrant to the United States, widely regarded as the father of modern venture capital, our association aims to:

  • Promote the exchange of knowledge and best practices in early-stage and seed venture capital.

  • Celebrate the rich history of VC while shaping conversations about its future.

  • Strengthen cross-border relationships between North American and European venture investors.

We believe that by building bridges between France, Canada, and the United States, we can help entrepreneurs and investors alike find new opportunities to innovate, grow, and succeed.

Our Focus

  1. Thought Leadership

We host small-group discussions and conferences to explore the evolution of venture capital, shedding light on how early-stage investment strategies shape the startup ecosystem.

  2. Community Building

Our membership comprises Francophile investors, professionals with French heritage, and others who share a deep interest in French and North American markets and cultures.

  3. Bridging Cultures and Networks

As a reflection group, we facilitate open dialogues, research collaborations, and international partnership opportunities to strengthen ties between the VC communities on both sides of the Atlantic.

Our Focus

  • Insightful Events & Workshops

Attend intimate roundtables, seminars, and online meetups featuring thought leaders in venture capital.

  • Exclusive Networking Opportunities

Grow your contact base with other venture capitalists, angel investors, and entrepreneurs who are active or interested in transatlantic ventures.

  • Honor a Historic Legacy

Participate in discussions around Georges Doriot’s pioneering contributions to venture capital, and be part of shaping its next chapter.

As we grow, members will also gain early access to white papers, policy briefings, and curated resources related to seed and early-stage VC investment in Europe and North America.

Upcoming Initiatives

Though very recently founded, the Institut Doriot is committed to delivering tangible value to our members through a series of high-impact activities. From the creation of a an intimatic Transatlantic VC Roundtable, where ideas can flow and meaningful relationships can blossom,  to launching cross-border mentorship opportunities,  each initiative reflects our objective to deepen collaboration, create new investment networks, and shape meaningful conversations around early-stage venture capital. We invite all members of the VC community — seasoned and emerging alike — to join us in bringing these programs to life.
